It all started when…

In 2005 Funeralcast became the first provider actively streaming funeral services on the east coast of Australia. The three new chapels at Macquarie Park Crematorium had just been completed and our technology began live streaming to the public. The early days of this technology were marked by uncertainty and unease, as loved ones struggled to balance the benefits of virtual attendance with the discomfort of participating in such a private and emotional event online.

However, over time and especially during the pandemic, virtual funerals have been an essential tool for families, providing a safe way to say goodbye and allowing loved ones to grieve and find closure. It has allowed people to come together virtually and support one another during difficult times.

why DO we love what we do?

Having lost family members of our own we can relate to how difficult this time is and how hard it is to make decisions that will please everyone. Our motivation is to use that experience to make it as easy as possible to plan a live stream and to be as inclusive as possible. The feedback we’ve received over the years from families who have used Funeralcast has been amazing and it has certainly been a driver for us to keep improving the business.
